Happy New Year!

Bye-bye 2008.. Hello 2009 :)

Boy, I think 2008 went really fast for me. It was a great year (we got Baby Maira!) and I hope 2009 will be better.

I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year. May 2009 be a prosperous year, with not much drama (heheh!), for everyone.

To my dear friend who just gave birth to a beautiful baby girl yesterday - congratulations. What a great way to end your year. Rest well sweetheart :)

Seasons Greetings!

I have suddenly caught the New Year spirit. Was indifferent before but now all I can think of is the jolly of year end and of New Year's resolutions. This is after spending a splendid day which started with yoga and ended with a most relaxing hair treatment by hubby's hairstylist (yup, my hubby has got a hairstylist, and me, I am still struggling to find meself one who can do wonders to my limp, and now dropping, permed hair).

Soooo... like many others, I have made some promises to myself. This year, I would like to list them down in black & white so that every quarter I can appraise myself.

My KPIs for 2009 will be:

  1. Wake up by 6.30am every workday and arrive at the office by 8.45am.... I know... you will be asking isn't this what you should be doing all these years???
  2. Attend yoga classes at least twice a week. Would like to go for more classes, but have to be realistic :(
  3. Save 20%... ooops... 15% of my pay every month.... NO EXCUSES!!!!!
  4. Cook at least once a week.
  5. Bake at least once a month...Ok, this is going to be the toughest cos up till now I don't even know how to use my oven.........and last but not least.....
  6. NO BUYING HANDBAGS!

Now... what do you think? Have I set the standards too low? Should I stretch myself further? No need lah kan? Life is about having fun anyway. Like what the trainer of one workshop that I recently attended said.. If you feel like buying new clothes ke, handbags ke, please buy, cos if you die today other prople will enjoy your money... How true! And what will be my bonus if I achieve all of the above? Hmmm hmmm hmmm... this will need to be discussed further. Hehe!

Am signing off.. Would like to continue reading James Patterson's 7th Heaven. As you know, I am a huge fan of Patterson now and am not getting enough of Lindsay Boxer and her Women's Murder Club. I feel like I am one of them now ;p

I have another 2 Patterson books that I haven't read.... *bliss*

Body of Lies & The 5th Horseman

Brought the girls to a birthday party yesterday. It was a really fun party with an animal theme and a bouncy castle. Audrene, of cos, had loads of fun there. The party packs were cool too - got customade stuff with the birthday boy's pix and name. Hehe...am definitely copying that for our future parties!

Some pics from the party:

Kakak eating a hippo's head

The birthday cake.. animal theme.. cantik!

Today, so far we have been at home, lazying around.... Hujan panas outside.

Movie I'll be watching later:

Body of Lies.. Yeap. Not really my kind of movie. Am too slow to catch what's going on and will always be disturbing my hubby.. Eh apasal? Kenapa? Kenapa? Heard its a great movie, starring 2 great actors - Russel Crowe and Leonardo DiCaprio. Will give this a try.

Book I'm reading:

James Patterson's 5th Horseman...Am halfway through this unputdownable book by my current favourite author. This time, there are 2 murders to be solved. Reading thrillers makes me feel a lil scared as they make me realise that there are many psychos and sickos out there. Hopefully I'll finish this book today cos I have another 2 Patterson books to read.

Also, since Audrene's into Transformers now, the movie will be playing on the laptop (over and over again) so this will be our default entertainment. Wooops.. baby's up! Susu time! Have a superb weekend all :)

Australia The Movie

Went to catch Australia just now. Verdict - LOVED IT!

The movie made me cry at least 4 times. No, no, it is not a sad, sappy love story.. It's all in one. There were humour, suspense, action adventure, romance and a little bit of mysticism. The leading casts - Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman - were EXCELLENT. The storyline was captivating. Kept me entertained for approx. 2.5 hours, plus it even made me feel a lil sad when it ended.

I urge everyone to watch this fine, fine movie. You will enjoy every minute of it. However, be prepared to get teary-eyed and red-nosed. But, naah, don't worry, you won't be the only one. While I quietly and shy-ly sniffed and wiped away my tears, I heard a number of sobs from other audiences as well. So tak pe, jangan segan2, mari kita nangis beramai2 :p

p/s.. Today's my last day working at my current company. I feel a little bit blue... :(

Last Few Days @ Office

This Friday will be my last day servicing my current employer. I joined this organisation in May 2006, and after 2 years and 7 months, I decided to take up a new challenge. Same kinda job - I am in Corporate Communications - but different kind of organisation in a totally different industry. As much as I feel excited, I also feel quite worried. Biasalah, new job. Lots of adjusting to do. Have to make new friends, have to look for a lunch partner, have to find a place to express my milk, have to impress my new boss... macam-macamlah...

But good thing is, before I start my new job, I will have some time off for myself and I plan to spend it to the fullest (ni yg i tak sabar2 ni sebenarnya.. the cuti part..hehe). Definitely will be hitting the gym as often as I can. Need to trim my figure (esp my pinggang) and also hope to be able to look great - rosy cheek and all - for my new job. I also hope to be able to hang out with some friends and catch up. Haven't been doing much of that lately. And of course, I need to do some shopping as well since there's Mega Sale everywhere (yippee!).

So I have another 2 days to kill. I will start packing my stuff tomorrow (sob!sob!). And hmmm... probably I need to draft a good-bye note to my colleagues.. Nak hantar ke? Tengoklah nanti. I'm just like Audrene, I'm sooo not into goodbyes. Furthermore, my new office is just around the corner hence makes it silly pulak to send a farewell email.

Eh, alamak..Dah 9.40pm!! I missed my favourite show - 90210... aaaargghhh!!! Adios!! Grey's Anatomy and Desperate Housewives pasni!

I've Been Robbed!

Crap! For the first time ever - after using the cleaning services for 2.5 years - I have been robbed!!! Geramnya!!

What was stolen? My double star neclace that I bought from H&M during my trip to Hamburg last year. The pretty neclace was on my coffee table. I forgot to keep it after Audrene borrowed it and now its gone :(

Tak pe lah, now I know that I have to be EXTRA careful. It must be the one yang cakap banyak tu. Asyik dok kata "saya tak tipu, saya tak tipu" in every sentence... Urgh... memang tipulah!

I hope I won't get the thief as a cleaner again. It is usually these 2 ladies - S&A - but that particular week there was a mix-up in their roster that the agency had to send 2 different ladies. Sorang was bl***y slow (45 minutes in my bathroom.. and senyap aje... buat apa tu??) and the other was this chatterbox. Hmmh...

I am not going to be grumpy about this. It's the weekend and I plan to fill it with happy stuff. So I must, I must, I must go and exercise... I am in need of the endorphin rush! That will be later this afternoon. Now, I am going back to settling in front of my not-at-all canggih TV and watch my all-time favourite series - Friends - while baca story book!

Body Balance

Grrr.. silly me. I SOOOO wanted to attend the Body Balance** class at the gym this morning (and tayang my new and flashy work out outfit.. heheh) but after waking up early and all the rush to send my 2 half-asleep girls to the nursery, I realised that I forgot to bring my FF card. Ni lah jadinya kalau tukar-tukar handbag nih! Geram betul! I know I can still go in, only need to fill in the form, but I was already running late so I decided to abort the idea and go straight to the office.

I started going to the BB class when I got pregnant earlier this year and I enjoyed it very much. Even if I had a tough week at work (tau la kan, nak melayan2 kerenah orang ni mmg buat I stress), I would still make it a point to wake up early on Saturday and attend the class. I think it helped me a lot in coping with the backaches and cramps during pregnancy. A couple of weeks before I delivered Baby Maira, I stopped going because I became huge and too heavy to move.

Now, after 4 months ++ of not attending the class, I have recently started going back. I feel refreshed, energised and, best of all, my body doesn't ache that much anymore (I have backache). I also attend yoga classes at the gym and am amazed with the flexibility of some of the participants. Mak oii, boleh lipat-lipat badan relaks aje...Tua and tembam pun boleh lipat badan. I yg ehem... ehem.. *muda* ni pun cannot. Now I realise that my body is so unflexible. Can't even touch my toes with the tip of my fingers without bending my knees. My mom says this means there's something wrong with my pinggang... ye ke?

I wonder...when la can I do this?

And this?

The instructor even tried to help lift my back. But, ergh, still cannot. Nak terjatuh-jatuh I. Not that I'm heavy, I am just keras! But although I find some, or ermmmm..most, of the positions quite difficult, I insist on going to the classes. I nak jugak to finally be able to lipat-lipat my badan. Also, I nak jugak reach my main aim that is to be able to fit in my work pants in time for my new job and have the bod of one of my fav instructors.. hehe... no kidding, the lady has 2 kids and her body is very well-toned, kulit pun cantik. I have 23 days to work out so all the best to me!

**BODYBALANCE™ is the Yoga, Tai Chi, Pilates workout that builds flexibility and strength and leaves you feeling centered and calm.
